OPERA QUEENSLAND

 ABOUT THE SHOW

  ARIAS, ANECDOTES AND BACKSTAGE ANTICS.

Join OperaQ stars on an adventure through Carmen, Madam Butterfly, Rigoletto,  and Don Giovanni  balanced by lighter, popular pieces along with plenty of anecdotes, laughs, and good times. Come along to experience the wonder, magic and joy of opera at close range.

The artists greet and mingle with the audience on arrival, before they gradually draw them in to a "rehearsal", sharing the stories of the scenes they will perform. Steadily the stage is transformed by opera performers in magnificent costumes and a splash of theatre magic.

David Splatt presents "Vaudeville in a Suitcase"

David Splatt brings vaudevillian comedy out of obscurity and into the modern times with his unique blend of mime, clowning and puppetry. From death defying flea circus stunts to masterful marionette manipulation, Mr Splatt creates a whimsical world of peculiar fun without ever even whispering a word.

Madame Tulalah's Magnificent Box

Discover your destiny at the touch of a button with a trip to Madame Tulalah's Magnificent Box  - a fortune-teller machine brought to life.

This interactive performance, devised by director Melinda Hetzel and performer Richard Chambers, invites you to experience a seven-minute, one-on-one fortune-telling session with part drag queen, part automaton Madame Tulalah.

Speaking through an earpiece from her custom-built box (think 'Zoltar' from the movie Big), the mysteriously mechanical Madame Tulalah uses not-quite-conventional methods of divination to take you on a journey into the realms of fate, future, free will and the occasional technical difficulty.

The Crackup Sisters

The Crackup Sisters are coming to the Mount Isa Fringe Festival.

S.T Ruth and her little sister Twiggs will be bringing the best country comedy, slapstick acrobatics, whip cracking and fringe festival antics!

The Crackup Sisters travel the country creating laughter and shenanigans.

These lively characters from Winton, Outback Queensland pride themselves on bringing the stories of country Australia to life with comedy, larrikinism and a give-it-a-go attitude.

A blend of knockabout acrobatics, stunning stockwhip cracking, choreographed dances, aerial acrobatics and pumping country music The Crackup Sisters will have you all busting a gut with laughter and slapping each other in amazement wondering just how they do that and how do they get away with that!

They've featured at Calgary Stampede in Canada, the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas and rodeos all over Australia including Mt Isa and Mareeba. The Crackup Sisters have hosted the Ekka Main Arena and have performed at agricultural shows in every state of Australia including the Perth, Darwin, Toowoomba, Bathurst and Brisbane Royals. They've performed at the Birdsville Pub, in Fred Brophy's Boxing Tent and even at an 80th Birthday party.

The Crackup Sisters are heading to Mount Isa with a swag of comedy capers, laughs and fun - for the whole family.

Come and watch their shenanigans, meet with them, have a laugh and share in the joy and classic craziness that is The Crackup Sisters.
