On the 28th August 2012 my family was finally recognised as the traditional owners of our country.  After a 13 year struggle that my family went through that some of our elders who had been trying to achieve, had passed on to the spirit world, who never got to see their dream become reality but now and forever we are recognised as the right full owners and occupiers of our country PITTA-PITTA.  The four way symbol represents the different directions that we came from to sit in on our consent determination for our nation, the different colours of people sitting down and the hand prints are the different shades of my family from fullblood down to myself as being the lightest skinned in my family, I have had the honour of being passed down story's and shown my country by my family.

Artist Biography

I am a Pitta-Pitta man from the Channel Country surrounding the Boulia district in South West Queensland.  I paint traditional and contemporary style artworks from story's that have been passed onto me by my family.  Our country comes alive in all seasons and my paintings are my interpretation of our country.  I use bright and vivid colours in my works as that is how I see my country.  I paint to keep our history and culture alive so that I can pass on the knowledge that has been passed on to me by my family to our next generation so that it will never be lost and to share our history with the wider community.
