Georgina River

Rollover to View Images
The Georgina River is the main river system in our country.  The spiritual significance of the river gives life and sustenance to my people and all the animals for the Pitta Pitta Nation for survival in the Desert country, the circles in the water represent the different waterholes where the main camp-sites are along the watercourse represented in black and white and the spinifex represents the plant life.

Artist Biography

I am a Pitta-Pitta man from the Channel Country surrounding the Boulia district in South West Queensland.  I paint traditional and contemporary style artworks from story's that have been passed onto me by my family.  Our country comes alive in all seasons and my paintings are my interpretation of our country.  I use bright and vivid colours in my works as that is how I see my country.  I paint to keep our history and culture alive so that I can pass on the knowledge that has been passed on to me by my family to our next generation so that it will never be lost and to share our history with the wider community.
