In all seasons of the year along the river country the different bush
medicines grow in abundance for my family to use and we used to trade
with other Nations for different supplies. The different colours
represent the different bush medicines and bush tucker that grows along
the river and the circles in the water are different waterholes where
certain plant species grow at different times in the season.
I am a Pitta-Pitta man from the Channel Country surrounding the Boulia
district in South West Queensland. I paint traditional and
contemporary style artworks from story's that have been passed onto me by
my family. Our country comes alive in all seasons and my paintings
are my interpretation of our country. I use bright and vivid
colours in my works as that is how I see my country. I paint to
keep our history and culture alive so that I can pass on the knowledge
that has been passed on to me by my family to our next generation so that
it will never be lost and to share our history with the wider community.
